GRADUATION RATES

The U. S. Department of Education collects graduation rate information from every degree-granting higher education institution in the United States through it's annual Graduation Rate Survey (GRS) as required by the Federal Student Right To Know Act.

According to this report, nearly one out of five four-year institutions in America graduate LESS THAN 1/3 of their first-time full-time degree-seeking freshman within 6 YEARS.

One of the main reasons students do not graduate from college is because of COST.
There are two main reasons why students do not graduate or attend college:

  • The student is not prepared academically to succeed in college

  • Many students are leery of accumulating a large amount of debt and the parents feel they are unable to pay all or part of the cost of the education

Of course there are other reasons as well but these are the main two.  Most families feel that their student should graduate in 4 years.  However, for the majority of students this is no longer true and studies done by colleges, states, research centers and the Federal Department of Education show it will take up to 6 years or more for the average student to obtain an undergraduate degree.
